Chris Hollenbeak

Chris_HollenbeakChristopher S. Hollenbeak, Ph.D., has been the Associate Director of the Center for Applied Studies in Health Economics (CASHE) since its establishment in 2011 until 2022.

Dr. Hollenbeak is a Professor of Surgery and Public Health Sciences. He is also the Department Head of Health Policy and Administration at Penn State University Park. He has extensive research expertise in applied economics, econometrics, Bayesian methods and research bridging surgical issues and economics.

Dr. Hollenbeak has been a Penn State Hershey faulty member since 2000. He is also the Director of Research, Center for Quality Innovation at the Penn State Medical Center. He serves on several editorial boards including the American Journal of Medical Quality, PharamcoEconomics, Heart & Lung, and Health Services Insights. His research has appeared in Journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Surgery.

Dr. Hollenbeak has published over 180 articles and written chapters in two books. His research sponsors include Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, American Cancer Society, National Institute of Health, American Lung Association, Pfizer, Penn State College of Medicine, and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Dr. Hollenbeak received his B.A. in Economics from Brigham Young University, his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University.
