Christopher Sciamanna

Chris SciamannaChristopher N. Sciamanna is a Professor of Medicine and Public Health Sciences at the Penn State College of Medicine. He has also been Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine since 2007. Dr. Sciamanna is a general internist and conducts research that focus on designing and testing interventions to improve key health behaviors such as losing weight and getting exercise. He also conducts research in the areas of asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.

Dr. Sciamanna completed his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College, Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center, and Internal Medicine fellowship and Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Sciamanna leads the Band Together strength training program for seniors, currently in 15 locations across Lebanon and Dauphin Counties in Pennsylvania.

In his position as Division Chief, Dr. Sciamanna actively mentors junior faculty. He has authored over 75 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been funded on grants from the National Institutes of Health for the past 15 years.
